Our Volunteers

Helping us care for families with children who are ill or injured in Central West NSW, so that they can stay at the heart of their child’s care.

All those who work with us and join the team are passionate about giving back to help others from the community in which we all live.

Our essential services wrap families with care, enabling them to stay together, stay strong and stay connected to everyday life, so they can focus on what matters most –caring for their ill or injured child.

Home is where the heart is and at the heart of Ronald McDonald House Central West are our Volunteers.

The team of over 130 Volunteers who help us run the House and Programs are from all walks of life – university students, corporate professionals, retirees, mums and dads.

The Programs our Volunteers help provide remove barriers and give families practical, emotional and financial support throughout their child’s healthcare, all close to the hospital, for as long as they need it – to help make their journey a little easier.

Volunteer Roles

We have a range of volunteer roles available to suit your needs, skill set or interest at our Ronald McDonald House in Orange and also in Dubbo and Bathurst with our Hospital Programs:

Overnight Family Ambassadors: Orange House

Our Family Ambassadors are the friendly faces who stay overnight at the House and welcome guests after hours. As an Overnight Family Ambassador your role is vital as you are there to greet families after hours and get them settled into their ‘home away from home’

This role is ideal for friendly and empathetic people who enjoy caring for families when they need it most.

Admin Angels: Orange House

As an Admin Angel your role could be varied and have different levels of family contact. The tasks may include taking calls/enquiries from the hospital about room availability and then entering families into our systems and running end of day reports. Additionally, there may be a range of general admin tasks and projects to assist with, from fundraising to Governance and from time to time helping us with some light housekeeping.

Reception: Orange House

This role is new for Ronald McDonald House Central West as we have just added a reception desk to the House. You will be a friendly point of contact for families staying with us at our House in Orange.

Daily tasks may include greeting families as they arrive, depart and come and go, answering phones and checking in visitors to the House as well as performing various administrative tasks related to families requesting accommodation, checking in and departing.

Domestic gods and goddesses : Orange House

As the name suggests our Domestic Gods and Goddesses have a knack for being clean. They help support the cleaning team by ensuring a high standard of cleanliness through the House.

Hospital Cart Volunteers : Dubbo Hospital and Bathurst Hospital Launching Soon
Volunteers are critical to the success of the Cart and will help to stock the cart, deliver the items, connect with sick children and their families and provide general well-being checks
Gala Ball Dream Team
Join the Gala Ball team which is a much needed support role for our largest fundraiser for the year. The Gala Ball is held annually in Orange.
